Madeline (Maddy) Sides

Madeline Sides is an American design researcher, doctoral candidate and novice forest and meadow restorationist from Northern California. Her doctoral research in the field of Transition Design at Carnegie Mellon University concerns how design methods and frameworks might be brought into ecological restoration practice to help untangle wicked problems, open up space for alternative futures and repair broken relationships. She has lead prior research and design workshops in academic and business contexts ranging from agricultural innovation to the future of healthcare. Madeline has also completed a permaculture design training program and participates in various forest-based restoration projects in Northern California.
