Emily K Gonzales

Parks Canada, University of Victoria, Society for Ecological Restoration

Emily Gonzales (PhD) works, teaches and volunteers for ecological restoration. She is an Ecological Restoration Specialist for Parks Canada where she supports restoration projects that restore relationships among wildlife and people such as hunting deer and rematriating bison. Emily has also taught at the University of Victoria since 2011, where she teaches Conservation Biology and Restoration Ecology. A member of the Society for Ecological Restoration since 2004, Emily currently chairs the Science and Policy Committee. This committee aims to elevate science and policy in ecological restoration at the global scale and recently developed the 10 Principles of the UN Decade for Ecosystem Restoration and defined international standards for ecological restoration.
