Deepti, a doctoral candidate at Amity Institute of Forestry and Wildlife, Amity University, India, is currently in the fourth year of her Ph.D. program in Wildlife Science. Her research interests are centered on the community structure of urban biodiversity, urbanization, and restoration. Deepti is a self-financed research scholar and holds a Master's degree in Zoology from Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, India.

Prior to her current program, she worked as a Junior Research Fellow at the headquarters of the Zoological Survey of India on a project related to forest fires in the northeastern states of India. She worked together on this project with a number of NGOs, governmental organizations, regional municipalities, and local communities to raise awareness of the need to combat forest fires.
