Lucy Commander

Alcoa

Dr Lucy Commander is the Environmental Research Superintendent at Alcoa, overseeing the research program for Alcoa’s mines in the Jarrah Forest in south-west Western Australia. 

Lucy’s 20-year career in mine-site restoration and native seed biology started with her Honours project with Argyle Diamond Mine, followed by several years with Kings Park Science (DBCA). Lucy then worked for the Australian Network for Plant Conservation, updating the Guidelines for the Translocation of Threatened Plants in Australia, and the Florabank Guidelines: best practice guidelines for native seed collection and use. Lucy has also worked with the NESP Resilient Landscapes Hub at The University of Western Australia.

Lucy is a former board member of SER Australasia.
