Tandi Spencer-Smith

Great Eastern Ranges

Tandi Spencer-Smith, Head of Communications & Partnerships at the Great Eastern Ranges, is a respected executive with over fifteen years of experience in the environmental not-for-profit, corporate and government sectors and a Master of Science in Biodiversity Conservation. 

Prior to taking on her current role at GER, Tandi served as the Director of the Australian Committee for IUCN. She continues to contribute to the network as an active member of IUCN’s World Commission on Protected Areas, Species Specialist Commission, Commission on Communication and Education, IUCN Connectivity Conservation Specialist Group and IUCN #NatureForAll.

Tandi has had stories published in dozens of online and printed publications, served as the lead author and editor of two Australian Committee for IUCN publications and helped to develop Our Knowledge, Our Way, in caring for Country, a set of best practice guidelines for sharing and strengthening of Indigenous knowledge produced by NAILSMA and CSIRO. In 2016, she wrote and designed a NSW curriculum-linked teaching package, Wildlife Corridors for Kids, in collaboration with local teachers, NSW Government, the Great Eastern Ranges and K2W Inc.

She has broad experience in conservation and restoration across public and private land, science communications, community engagement, strategic planning, program and business development, and operations.
